After long last, we finally have a release date for the most anticipated game (of all time?) and it is a lot sooner than we all expected. Fallout 4 has been confirmed to arrive on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on November 10, 2015, just in time for the holidays. Before anyone goes pre-ordering the game right away, take into account that this release date is subject to change and will most likely do so, just like Batman: Arkham Knight, Watch_Dogs, Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Fallout 4 is running on a next-generation version of Bethesda’s Creation engine, which was used for The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim back in 2011, however, this is an updated version of that engine which includes full physics-based rendering and dynamic volumetric lighting. You can play in first or third person, per usual, walk away from encounters at any point if you like, and, to paraphrase Howard, shoot anyone in the face without breaking the game’s story logic (which is awesome!).
After showing a good amount of gameplay from the game, Bethesda then unveiled a new iOS and Android game known as Fallout Shelter. It’s not directly connected to Fallout 4, but rather something Howard said the company wanted to build for mobile device “because it couldn’t be done anywhere else.” This is not a second screen experience, but more of a soft tie-in to wet your appetite until the release of Fallout 4, later this year (if it’s not delayed.)
Check out some of the gameplay that was unveiled and get ready to dump all of your money from your wallets as E3 is underway all week long. Stay tuned to more content as more news is released throughout the week!
