If Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t convince you that Chris Pratt is a money-making leading man, Jurassic World will. With another trip down nostalgia with the sequel to Jurassic Park, Jurassic World bring the audience into the actual world of Jurassic Park, a dream finally revealed 22 years after the premiere of the park. While the film has grossed over $200 million at the box office over the weekend, making it the second biggest domestic opening of all time, second only to Marvel’s The Avengers ($207 million), the international take of the film has grossed $512 million, making it the biggest international opening ever. Jurassic World proves that you don’t have to be a comic book movie, in order to make a ton of money with a summer blockbuster.
With the huge success of Jurassic World, Chris Pratt has confirmed that he is signed on for sequels of the movie stating, “I am. They have me for I think 38 movies or something.”
Melissa McCarthy’s Spy finished in second, earning $16 million in its second week in theaters, followed by San Andreas in third place. with just more than $11 million. Insidious Chapter 3 and Pitch Perfect 2 rounded out the top 5, with $7.3 million and $6 million.
